US Open 2026 Preview: The Last Grand Slam of the Year Lands in New York
Preview · 21 July 2026
Updated 19 August: the tournament-week preview — with the hard-court whale ledger (five seven-figure Cincinnati wins) and current title odds — is here: US Open 2026: The Whales Warmed Up With Five Million-Dollar Wins.
The last Grand Slam of the tennis year is almost here. The US Open 2026 main draw begins on Sunday, August 30 and runs through the men’s final on Sunday, September 13, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. This is a preview: no US Open bets have been captured yet. When the draw opens, every six-figure ticket on the tournament will land on the US Open hub and in the tail.bet feed in real time.
What is at stake
New York closes the Slam calendar. After Melbourne, Paris, and London, the US Open is the final major of the season, and it often decides the year-end world number one. It is played on hard court, the fastest and most unforgiving surface of the four majors, which rewards big serving and first-strike power and tends to punish anyone a fraction off their timing. The purse is the richest in tennis, a record above $90 million in 2025 with $5 million to each singles champion, and 2026 is expected to climb again.
The champions defending
Carlos Alcaraz arrives as the defending men’s champion after beating Jannik Sinner in the 2025 final. Aryna Sabalenka returns as the women’s champion, having defended her title in 2025. The Alcaraz and Sinner rivalry has run through the majors all season, so the obvious storyline is whether anyone can break the top two apart over two weeks in the New York heat, or whether the final writes the same names again.
Where the whale money goes
The US Open reliably draws heavy high-roller action, and the shape of it is predictable. Outright winner markets on the favorites carry the biggest single tickets, the men’s and women’s finals pull the largest one-day handle, and the early rounds throw up the upsets that turn a longshot into a six-figure return. Grand Slam tennis is a settlement-heavy fortnight, and the graders stay busy right through the second week.
For now there is nothing to tail. Once the draw is out and play begins on August 30, the biggest US Open bets will appear here as they are placed, with the bet-slip screenshot, the odds, and the eventual outcome. Follow the placements as they land on Telegram and X, and the full tennis archive sits on the tennis page.
