The International 2026 Playoffs: $8M Tracked, and the Bettors Are Somehow Up

The group stage is done, the elimination round is done, and The International 2026 is down to eight teams with the double-elimination bracket starting 20 August at the Oriental Sports Center. On our side of the fence, the Dota 2 whale feed has now logged $8.09M across 235 tickets on this tournament — and here is the number nobody expects at a Dota major: those tickets have returned $8.27M. The whales are collectively up on The International with the biggest matches still unplayed.

The bracket: an undefeated favorite and a champion who took the long way

PARIVISION are the story of the group stage — 4–0 in matches and straight through to the playoffs as the top seed, alongside Team Liquid and Nigma Galaxy. The outright boards noticed: as of 17 August PARIVISION were listed around +180 to lift the Aegis, with everyone else at +550 or longer.

Team Falcons, the defending champions, took the scenic route. They slipped to the elimination round, then dispatched Vici Gaming 2–0 to keep the title defense alive — and the books still respect them at around +550, second on the board. Team Spirit, BetBoom Team, 1win and Team Yandex fought through the same elimination gauntlet to fill out the eight.

The quarterfinal card for 20 August, with the early lines: Team Spirit vs 1win (Spirit 1.85 / 1win 1.96 at GG.bet), PARIVISION vs BetBoom (1.20 / 3.72), Team Liquid vs Team Yandex (1.66 / 2.33), and Team Falcons vs Nigma Galaxy (1.52 / 2.54). Losers drop to the lower bracket — nobody is eliminated on day one, but the road back is brutal.

Shanghai’s own teams won’t be there

The bracket’s biggest storyline is who is missing. Every Chinese team is out — at a Shanghai TI. Xtreme Gaming went 1–4 in groups, and LGD Gaming and Vici Gaming both fell in the elimination round, meaning the home crowd watches the playoffs without a home team. OG, the most decorated organization in TI history, are also gone at 1–4.

The whale money felt those exits in real time. The elimination round produced some of the tournament’s biggest settled tickets: $154,081 on Team Spirit against Team Resilience paid $227,812.07, while a $100,000 ticket on Team Resilience in the same series — a different market on the same fixture — paid $177,822.18. Both sides of one series, both printing. That is the kind of tournament this has been for the feed.

What the money is pointing at

The all-time context still matters: Dota 2 runs a 67% win rate across $58.7M tracked and is still down money lifetime, because favorites cash small and upsets cash large. TI 2026 flipping that — 129 wins, 84 losses, and a positive return line — says the whales have been reading this event correctly: heavy on PARIVISION and the elimination-round survivors, quick to cash out of dead positions (21 cashouts so far).

Four days left. Upper bracket 20–21 August, upper final 22 August, and a best-of-five grand final on 23 August for a crowdfunded prize pool that has climbed past $3.1M. The $446,000 qualifier parlay that paid $1.5M is still the tournament’s high-water mark — but grand finals are where records go to die.
