The pattern from the quarter-finals held clean. The heaviest favourite money died, and the punters who got paid were the ones who backed goals rather than badges.

France vs Spain, Tuesday 14 July. Spain won it, France went home, and France did not score.

The biggest single ticket across both semis was on the wrong side of the result: $1,098,810 on France to qualify at 1.60, graded a loss. Behind it, $450,000 on France total over 0.5 goals at 1.40 needed a single France goal to land and never got one.

One whale read the room early and walked away clean. A $350,000 ticket was cashed out flat at $350,000, no profit, no damage, out before the collapse.

Argentina reach the final, and the goals crowd cleaned up

England vs Argentina, Wednesday 15 July. Argentina won, both teams scored, and the standout ticket of the round did not touch the winner at all.

$395,583 on both teams to score, yes at 3.40 came back $1,344,981, the biggest single-ticket win of the entire knockout stage. Reading the game beat reading the badge, again.

The straight call paid too. $310,034 on Argentina to qualify at 2.08 returned $621,471.

Third place: England, and a shootout worth cashing

France vs England, Saturday 18 July. England took the bronze-medal game, and one whale who backed them straight got paid: $300,000 on England to win at 2.25 returned $675,000.

It was a game with goals to spare, and a long-odds punt showed what that can do. $15,000 on the exact score of 3:4 at 101.0 was cashed out for $268,918 as the scoreline ran away.

The lesson that keeps repeating

Seven-figure favourite money on France is gone. The money that got paid backed goals: Argentina to trade them, England to score in the third-place game. It is the same read that cleaned up in the quarter-finals, and now it points at the one match left.
