VALORANT has never carried money like this on tail.bet. In the first two weeks of Champions 2026 in Shanghai we captured 101 single tickets worth $6,331,430 on the event, and one of them was the biggest VALORANT bet in our archive: $1,000,000 on a single map.

It is the world championship, so that is fitting. Sixteen teams, a $2.25 million prize pool with $1 million to the winner, a group stage at the Jing’an Sports Center and a grand final at the Mercedes-Benz Arena on 18 October. NRG arrived as defending champions. Here is where the whale money went, and what it got back.

$1,000,000 on LOUD, and the cash-out that saved it

Wednesday 30 September, Group B winners’ match, Team Vitality against LOUD. Vitality won the first map, Ascent, 13-7. Forty-seven minutes after the listed start, an anonymous account put $1,000,000 on LOUD to win Map 2 at 1.62, a $1.62 million ticket on one map.

It was cashed out for $1,219,474, a profit of $219,474.

Holding it would have cost the full million. Map 2 was Summit. It went to overtime and Vitality won it 19-17, and with it the series 2-0 and a playoff place. Someone else read the same map the other way: $100,000 on Vitality to win Map 2 at 1.92 returned $192,000. Across eight single tickets on that one match, $1,286,422 went in and $1,553,048 came back.

Karmine Corp: $985,000 on one side, $8,485 back

The worst day belonged to one team’s backers. Karmine Corp came to Shanghai as EMEA Stage 2 champions and met Nongshim RedForce on Saturday 3 October in the Group D decider, loser out.

Nine single tickets went on that match, $1,091,333 in total, and $984,945 of it was on Karmine:

Karmine took Sunset 13-9 and looked on course. Nongshim then won Summit 13-5 and Haven 13-6, the series 2-1 and the playoff place. Every one of those tickets lost. The only Karmine money that came back was a $43,900 Map 2 ticket cashed out for $8,485. The small Nongshim positions on the other side paid, but $984,945 on Karmine returned $8,485, and Karmine went home in the group stage. The $559,944 ticket is the second-biggest VALORANT bet we have ever captured, behind only the LOUD million.

It was a reversal, too, because Karmine money had paid earlier in the week. $213,000 on Karmine -1.5 against XLG at 1.68 returned $357,840 on 25 September when they won 2-0, Abyss 13-6.

The money that paid: NRG, Paper Rex and 100 Thieves

The defending champions were the most reliable side to be on. NRG beat Nongshim 2-0 on day two (Lotus 13-5) and came from a map down to beat Karmine 2-1 on 29 September, and the whales were with them both times:

Paper Rex paid twice in the same match. Against G2 on 29 September, two separate $100,000 tickets on Paper Rex, at 2.50 and 1.85, returned $250,000 and $185,000 when PRX came back from losing Split to win Haven 13-11 and Lotus 13-9. The sharpest ticket of the event came from the same match: $51,531 on a 6:6 first-half score on Map 1 at 5.00, which returned $257,656.

100 Thieves topped Group A without dropping a map, and three $100,000-class tickets came in with them: $100,000 on 100T to take Map 1 against T1 at 2.35 (returned $235,000), and two 100T -1.5 tickets against FUT, $105,000 at 2.00 and $100,000 at 1.90, that returned $400,000 between them.

Where the big bets went wrong: the draw

One market keeps catching the biggest accounts. Three separate $100,000 tickets went on the draw option in three-way map markets, at prices from 3.40 to 5.30, and all three lost: G2 v Team Liquid Map 1 at 3.40, 100 Thieves v FUT Map 2 at 4.40 and LOUD v Global Esports Map 1 at 5.30. $300,000 staked, nothing back.

The headline result in Shanghai is the one the home crowd did not want: no Chinese team reached the playoffs, with TYLOO, JD Gaming, EDward Gaming and XLG going 0-8 in series between them. T1 came through the lower side of Group A, beating JD Gaming 2-1 and FUT 2-0 to take the second spot.

The playoffs, and what is open now

The eight-team double-elimination bracket started on Wednesday 7 October:

  • 7 October: NRG v T1, Paper Rex v LOUD
  • 8 October: 100 Thieves v G2, Team Vitality v Nongshim RedForce
  • 10 October: upper semi-finals
  • 16 October: upper final
  • 17 October: lower final (best of five)
  • 18 October: grand final (best of five), Mercedes-Benz Arena

The playoff opener has already drawn the heaviest betting of the event by ticket count. Eleven single tickets worth $574,405 went on NRG v T1, from $150,000 on NRG -1.5 at 2.10 (already cashed out for the stake) to $40,000 positions on T1, and most of them were still open at the time of writing. We will grade the rest on the VALORANT Champions hub as they settle.

Every ticket from Shanghai is on the hub, team by team on the Vitality, LOUD, Paper Rex, Karmine Corp and Nongshim RedForce pages, and across the VALORANT board. The same week, one account put $5.3 million on Counter-Strike in Katowice. More on the esports hub.
